about

Written under the chiffon fog of my summer cabin stationed in the Marin Headlands north of San Francisco. The title is in reference to the Ed Ruscha painting of the same name. I am a big fan of Ruscha and this work in particular, but the phrase itself sums up my feelings entirely for a) Northern California, B) the joys of playing an instrument you aren't familiar with and 3. sleeping with someone you love.

(I would expect a cease and desist letter from Ruscha's mgmt if I expected to make anything off this little EP. We'll see how long it takes them to find me. Accepting alternate title suggestions in the meantime.)

This is my second iPhone Voice Memos release.

Track Name: Side A: Other People's Lives
Other people's lives
Little windows, little worlds
Other people's lives
Little windows, little worlds
Ask a thousand questions
Never get the answers

They say you don't know a man
'til you walk in his shoes
They say you don't know a man
'til you walk in his shoes
Well, I'm still an imposter
Even dressed in full costume

The streets are in the same place
Even parallel tracks bend
The streets are in the same place
Even parallel tracks bend
I'll keep listenin' to your stories
Shaking hands with your friends

Well the vulture makes a "V"
and the hawk looks like a cross
Well the vulture makes a "V"
And the hawk looks like a cross
But are they really so different
Up in the wind, up in the waft

Baby, you can drive my car
But I make no guarantees
Baby, you can drive my car
But I make no guarantees
One and one is two yeah
But maybe bad things come in threes

Other people's lives
Little windows, little worlds
Other people's lives
Little windows, little worlds
Ask a thousand questions
Never get the answers
Track Name: Side B: Sleepin
Last night
Oh I
Woke up from a dream
Wonderin where I was
In my own bed

Somehow
Somethin
Didn't seem quite right
Maybe just the light
Comin in a little different

How are you sleepin
Do you wake up too
Feel somethin missing
Beside you?
How are you sleepin
Do you wake up to
Wonder why I am not sleepin
Sleepin with you?

Next year
Next time
Wherever we go
Let's make sure we know
There'll be plenty of room

By then
Baby
By the clear light of day
I won't have to say
I won't have to ask you

How are you sleepin' ...
